Have you ever played 20 questions? I’m impatient—I much prefer the game of five questions.
- What’s roughly the size of several credit cards?
- What can fit in you wallet, pocket or on a key chain?
- What will save your life if you’re traveling with kids?
- What can keep said kids occupied for hours?
- What can be distributed to all of your kids so no one has to share?
NAMITS®
The Game of Think
These cute little tear-proof cards are brimming with thought-provoking entertainment. I’ve used them in waiting rooms and on long drives; in church and (don’t tell anyone) once for punishment!
To play, look at the first card in the section, then choose a word from the cards that follow to make a NAMITS question. Your kids—or you if you’re bored—must then think of all possible answers. Name them aloud, write them down or time the answers at group game night.
Namits is a tiny little tool with great potential. I highly recommend it to parents, grandparents and game buffs.
GIVEAWAY ALERT!
I will give away two Namits games on Friday, April 17. To enter, leave a comment describing how YOU occupy your kids in sticky situations. Winners will be chosen at random. One entry per person please!
If you prefer to purchase your own set, they are available at http://www.namits.com.
Good luck!

My kids are nearly grown now, but when they were younger we loved to play “Brain Quest”.
I occupy my students by playing silent ball – you have to pass around a ball silently – if you talk u are out. It’s amazing how much of a reward they consider this game.
My son is still quite young so he is usually occupied with colouring book & crayons, a game of I SPY or “Button, Button, Who’s Got the Button” which involves hiding a few items and having him find them or vice versa, using clues such as “The red one likes to read” or “the blue one is cold”.
We like to play the old classic”I spy …..” and the new quiet version the “I spy” bag.
Thanks
Occupying a two year old is tough work but a few things that he loves include coloring, play dough, and best of all he adores music. If I can play some “tunes” for him, he’s the happiest boy in town.
My child is 8 months and I occupy him with kitchen tools – he has become quite attached to a whisk. He loves stacking bowls and in a pinch any old spatula will do! I carry one in my diaper bag!
For us it is singing songs and making up new ones.
giving her books to read.
We play “The Alphabet Game” when we’re in the car. Each of my 3 sons takes a turn to find a letter of the alphabet (in alphabetical order of course) on a billboard, sign, store front, etc. They enjoy finding the ‘hard’ letters (q, x, z) so much! If we’re on the open road, we do the same thing but with license plates. You can step it up by having them name a food or animal that begins with the letter they just found.
My son loves I Spy, and if all else fails, he’ll play with two or three of his Hot Wheels for hours!
We play quiet game. One person is the judge and whoever goes the longest without making a sound is the winner.
I don’t have kids, bu my Mom & Dad used to play “I see something…” with me.
Thanks for the chance to win!
How I occupy my kids most of the time is by playing I SPY alot. Or the “I’m thinking of……..” game!
This looks like a fun little PORTABLE game!
Thanks for the chance of winning.

I have a 9 yr old and we play I spy works or silently read books. Thanks for the chance to win.
My daughter is 4, and I have a tote bag that I’ve named the “fun bag” and we take it for things like traveling (both long car trips and plane trips), going to the ER, when she has to accompany to one of my doctors, etc. Essentially anytime she has to go somewhere that I know it’s going to be a long wait and probably pretty boring. The fun bag is full of things she can do by herself relatively quietly. I keep it stocked with new things from the dollar store as well as little portable things she gets as gifts from others, such as her current favorite of a metal box with magnets of herself, me, her dad and her best friend plus magnet outfits — everything from a cowboy outfit to an Elmo costume.
This would be a great addition to the Fun Bag!!
I’ve used I Spy quite a few times. I also always have a pen and paper or something of the sort in my purse which can be very useful!
We mostly just talk or sing songs. Recently on a long road trip we tried to see how many truckers we could get to honk at us.
These look TOO COOL! I usually try to get my kids to sing songs, or we count things, or color, but nothing lasts very long! Enter me!
We read books. This game looks cool.
My 2 and 5-year-old girls travel with us a lot by car. They love to play the quiet game, I Spy, and singing to their favorite CD.
I Spy works every time! I can never get enough of my little boy saying: “I spy wif my wittle eye…” so sweet!
Being a Mimi or Grammy or Grandma to 10 requires a lot of quick thinking. We have tried all the traditional things like I spy – find something of a certain color (ie – find something green) – punch buggy – License plate game but being ECO friendly now we pick out things from nature – trees – what kind – pinecones – rocks – what shape? what color? what is that flower? Questions about the garden – I will have a whole little crop of “green grandbabies” soon…sooooo much fun!!!!!
My one year old really likes the sesame street softplay books.
Good ol coloring books and crayons.
I have introduced my boys to jigsaw puzzles!!! So addictive!
I have introduced my boys to jigsaw puzzles!!! So addictive!
I pack a small back pack with hot wheels, a book, mini rubiks cube and a non-messy snack.
Great Giveaway! Just found your site! To occupy my little guys (9 months and 2) we sing nursery rhymes or my 2 year plays preschool games on my iPod Touch! This game sounds so fun and I love that is sounds so easy!
I love the other ideas out here!
My kids really love puzzles. It’s one of the few non messy things I can pull out on rainy days!
When my 2 .5 year old needs to be distracted I do a really silly dance and make really silly sounds for her. She giggles until her eyes water. Only problem is she asks for the “silly dance” when we are around other people. A new game would be great to keep me from having perform for people over the age of 2.
Have a fabulous weekend
