Queen of denial

Denial is a powerful emotion, especially when it relates to the pretty colors of the rainbow piled knee-high in my laundry room. My avoidance lasted three days … until I had to rescue a three-year-old mountain climber from the tallest peak.

Not an ideal Monday night activity … but warranted. Especially after I watched an episode of Hoarders. Have you seen that show? Yikes! It makes me want to tame my clutter, throw out everything but the baby and the bathwater, and live like a minimalist.

I washed and dried and folded and stacked and sorted. That was five loads ago. I’m almost finished. I’m also determined to sort through every dresser, closet and hamper in this house and get rid of the excess, worn out and too small but still functional.

Because if they don’t have a lot of clothes, I won’t have a lot of laundry … right?

And then there’s the whole orphan issue. Does the washer eat the others? Does the dryer burn them into nothingness? Where do they go? Where do they live? I need a map to the orphanage. I can reunite them with their long, lost siblings.

Procrastination is a curse, people.

And please … don’t judge me by my dirty laundry.

But do watch Hoarders if you want some motivation to get your rear in gear. It’s disgusting, but fascinating … in a twisted, horrific sort of way.
