We took the kids to the zoo last weekend.
The animals were cool, the scenery was fun and the gardens … they were beautiful. Common plants, lush growth, colorful arrangements and beautiful ideas. I was inspired and thout I’d share.
It amazes me what they did with some purple fountain grass, hostas, black-eyed susans, sweet potato vine and coleus! Those are so common … why didn’t I think of this?
I want an arbor.
I have some of those bushes … can’t think of the name right now.
Does anyone know what the plant is at the peak of the planter?
I want a concrete turtle.
Love these, too. Anyone know the name … help me out here Jaime! Rebekah? Bueller? Bueller?
*crickets*
Petunias never looked prettier. This makes me want to grab a hammer and make window boxes.
Are you inspired? Hope so!
I still have jellyfish photos to show you from our trip to the Akron Zoo. So if you or your kids want to see some really cool sea creatures … tune in tomorrow!

Cannas in next to last pix. Do you need some of those? Can’t tell if the ones at peak of planter are perhaps dwarf red leaf cannas. Looks like spirea surrounding that planter – of which you said you have some.
Yes! Spirea! Thanks, Sally. Good to know about the cannas, too. Now … to find a gardener who could be paid with fudge and smiles.
You go Sally! :+) You do have spirea farmgirl! The gardener…he should be good looking to I think!
The cannas are a bulb that is planted in the spring, dug up in the fall, stored in a cool, dry place over winter and replanted in the spring. They come in pink, white, orange red and red.
