Foodie speak and a giveaway
I’m a foodie (wannabe). I love to cook, try new recipes and concoct my own dishes. I even have a job that gets me up close and personal with real food experts. I’m pretty sure I was the toddler banging pots and pans around in the kitchen — a trend that continued into adulthood. And perhaps it’s my affection for food and its creation that explains why I keep a rubber spatula in my purse for teething toddlers. (It keeps my nephew occupied during church!)
When UncommonGoods offered to send me a few of its products I headed straight for the Foodie Flashcards. What other game do you know that promises to “refine your palate in mere days!” And seriously, how much fun would it be to show up to Thanksgiving dinner and pronounce,
“You always could spatchcock like a pro, dear!”
With my new knowledge I could visit the winery next door and say things like: “Mmm. Smell that terroir!” or “Oh, what a lovely biodynamic elixer!” or “I wish that wine had legs like yours!”
Impudence runs in the family, you know.
Uncommon Goods has gifts for men, women and kids of all ages, too. And my choice? Truly a gift for the whole family. Imagine … one daughter does the baking while the other exclaims, “Your muffins look gloriously toothsome, sweetie!” Or my six-year-old turns to me at dinner and says, “Excellent use of umami, Mommy!”
UncommonGoods offers a lot more than flashcards, of course — click here to see more — like the Word Teasers game for small fry or ZinZig, which I’ll review over the next few days. Stay tuned for more ideas and for now, an uncommonly good
