Easy Pizza Bread – yummy!
I’ve had this recipe for years. It was given to me by a former coworker and boy, am I thankful she shared it! I made this pizza bread for Farmboy’s birthday party. I forgot to take a photo. Trust me — it looks delicious and tastes just as good. Everyone — kiddos and adults — will love it. Enjoy!
Farmgirl’s Pizza Bread
1 (1 lb.) loaf frozen bread dough
1/2 cup Italian tomato paste
1 tsp. oregano, crushed
1/4 tsp. garlic powder
4 oz. pepperoni
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
Thaw bread dough. Roll out flat to 12×9-inch rectangle. Spread tomato paste on dough. Sprinkle with oregano and garlic powder. Cover the bread dough with pepperoni slices, top with cheese. (Leave one long edge free of pepperoni and cheese so you can roll and seal.)
Roll up, jellyroll-fashion from the long side and seal edge. Place on a greased baking sheet, seam side down. Brush with water, sprinkle with Kosher or sea salt. Let sit until doubled, about 1 hour.
Make shallow slits across the top at 2-inch intervals. Bake at 375 degrees for 20 minutes. Sprinkle with grated parmesan cheese. Slice at each slit and serve with pizza sauce for dipping.
The bread dough usually comes in two- or three-loaf packages. I usually make three loaves — these go quickly! We like this bread cold. I usually make it the day before an event, wrap tightly in foil and refrigerate until we’re ready to slice and serve.
