Cowgirl cut & curl: how to bathe a cow
It’s fair time — time to get all gussied up.
Step 1: Wash & Condition
You’ll need water, bubbles, brushes and patience. Also, possibly, a second set of clothes.
Be thorough. Don’t forget to scrub behind the ears.
Don’t forget to scrub those feet.
Watch out for tickle spots … you don’t want a swift kick in the chops.
We also advise rubber boots.
Step 2: Cut & Style
After the little lady is washed and dried, it’s time for a trim.
We advise the slow and steady method, all the while speaking softly to keep her calm.
Keep the clippers flat against the skin and move against the hair in a smooth motion.
Also, keep your mouth closed.
Things can get a little ‘hairy-d’.
One heifer’s perspective:
Always trust a stylist with blue fingernails.
And hold very still while she’s shaving your neck!
And a final piece of advice for happy heifers:
Hop on the next trailer to town and walk proudly into your home away from home. Stand quietly before the judges. Smile nicely at visitors. And enjoy life in front of a cool fan, with servants bringing you feed and water, and excited little kids scratching you behind the ears.
Oh, if you win a blue ribbon … yeehaw!
We’re off to the fair.
