Ice, ice baby

I stepped outside to add wood to the fire this morning and nearly landed on my arse. The world was coated in ice. Raindrops were fallin’ on my head. To say it’s slippery would be an understatement. No worries, though. We’re prepared. I made a quick trip into town last night around 10 p.m. to fill the gas cans — just in case we need the generator. It may sound a little extreme, but last winter we were without power for five days. Generators are handy.

It wasn’t the lack of power that bothered me. It was lack of Internet. Apparently ice had coated the Verizon tower and they didn’t seem to be in a hurry to correct the problem, though I called and complained every day for a week. I’m crossing my fingers it doesn’t happen again. It was frustrating — especially for a web addict like me.

Anyway, I just wanted to say howdy …

and Happy February! Seems like a perfect time to focus on loving those around me. Doing little things to brighten days, bring smiles and show how much I care.

Countdown to Valentine’s Day
Day I: Flowers for the family.

Stay tuned. There may or may not be a tasty treat in the works for tomorrow!

The power trucks have been up and down the road today. I’m hoping that’s not a bad sign! Can’t wait to see the valentine’s surprises!

That ice is scary-too easy to slip and hurt yourself.—-Losing power is bad enough, but internet? I think we are all lost without it nowadays. Well, stay safe……
