Countdown to Valentine’s Day

Day II: Here’s a tasty treat for you. It’s a buttery little cookie with a sweet spot of jam. I would have used a small heart cookie cutter, but the person who borrowed it to use with Play-Doh left it out. The dog chewed it up. Kind of like my homework. Enjoy!



Aunt Bernice’s Jam Hearts

2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 c. butter
4 1/2 ounces cream cheese

Combine ingredients and mix until a crumbly dough forms.

Roll dough 1/4-inch thick. (Dough will be stiff.) Make hearts or other shapes with a small cookie cutter and place on baking sheet. Push a thumbprint in each and dot with a teaspoon of strawberry jam. Bake for 10 minutes at 350 degrees. Share with someone you love!


Note: A heart cookie cutter really does take the cake, although round cookies are tasty, too!

    Oh I’m going to try these! Thanks for the recipe. Did you lose power last night? Ours went out at 10:30 but was back on at 11:30 (phew!).
