The Grapes of Laugh-ter

Twigg Winery - Brent Baker

There weren’t as many onlookers for the annual Augusta Strawberry Parade in my sister’s yard this year because half of us were in the parade. That’s my brother there in the toga.

We do crazy really well in our family.

His sons joined him in promoting Twigg Winery to the masses that lined the street. My hubby and son drove the tractor.

Farmboy was mighty pleased — to say the least! —to participate in the parade (especially after I promised to gather candy for him).

The rest of our combined brood joined the fun, too. The girls and my niece rode along with the 4-H club.

They made me promise to collect candy, too — although it looks like they raided the stash they were supposed to be distributing.

These were the only two kids in our family to watch the parade and collect candy. Such a shame they weren’t able to grab enough to share … !

This little dude watched the parade, too. He’s sweeter than all that candy combined.

The entire parade was pretty sweet … cute kids, smiling faces and some awesome floats. Like this one — a huge hit with our crowd!

And this one is an annual favorite …

Happy birthday to the Girl Scouts …

And this one is pretty darned cute …

And everybody loves a vintage {tractor} parade …

It wouldn’t be a parade without fire trucks …

And classic cars …

And a promotion for Bible School …

And of course there’s always room for spreading some … charm.

Everybody loves a parade.

(Except for the long line of traffic and pipeline trucks that had to wait for the parade to clear off the only State Route that goes through town. And watching those folks drive by is a parade of an entirely different nature, though still extremely entertaining!)

I love summer. And strawberries.

Go exploring! You may enjoy these previous posts.

So sweet that a small town like Augusta keeps this tradition alive!

I think so too, Nancy! And I heard the tractor pull went on until the early morning hours!

It was a great parade! We took our 16 month old and he got a kick out of it all. He sure figured out the candy thing fast! I’m hoping that we will be able to take him in the parade at Mechanicstown next week in one of the fire trucks (since I’m on the dept.). 🙂 I think he would enjoy that, too.

wow, I can see my hanging baksets on the front porch in a couple of those pictures…I’m glad it’s blurry enough in the background so you can’t see how dry they were that day haha
