Bake-offs and basketball easy as pie

A bake-off. Each daughter created one large and one small (tart-sized) pie. They didn't use recipes but they did make homemade pie fillings with blueberries from the freezer and an apple from the fridge. Each family member was allowed a small sample. Then we voted. Daughter No. 2, the middle child, had tastier fillings. She used more sugar. Her crusts, however, left something to be desired. They were tough and a bit chewy. Christmas decorating ... silver and gold, the holly and the ivy, silver bells — oh Christmas tree! Is there anything better than time to deck the halls?
