Material Girl and the boys
My sister picked us up this morning for a mini road trip. We went to Material Girl, a fabric and sewing notions shop in Dover. It’s a smallish place with a huge inventory of colorful fabrics. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to grab three of every color and become a seamstress. It’s the kind of place my sister and I must take our kids to, because their short attention spans ensure we don’t spend all day (and our bottom dollar) on colorful cottons and patterned prints.
My oldest picked out pillow patterns and my sister chose fabrics for her apron project. I found some lovely textural teal fabric for my Goodwill chairs. Both daughters chose a floral pattern for summer skirts.
I loved the polka dots and chevron stripes!
My middle child was smitten with the guitar patterns.
Even the little boys found some choice materials.
It was a tough decision between Scooby-Doo, Spider-Man and Ford Mustang yardage, but eventually they came to a decision. Horsepower beat spiderwebs and Scooby snacks.
One cool car bed pillow coming up, young man.
Our next adventure? Well it’s a biggie … and there might just be lions, no tigers but yes, bears … oh my! Details coming one of these days when the snowflakes stop falling and we feel like summer storytelling. For now, though …
Do YOU sew? Those teal pillows are next on my list (after the boy’s new headrest, of course!).
What do you make? What projects are you working on?
I’d love to know!
