I was looking through old photos — something I seem to do every time someone’s birthday approaches. In the midst of the baby pictures, I found a few sweet treats of all my kids with Papa K. Ohhh, they were so little and sweet. And the birthday boy? I want to reach up there and pinch his pudgy cheeks and wobbly knees.
And then I found this photo of that boy with his grandpa …
… and then I found this one, from before birthday boy was born. Back when my tall, opinionated girls were little cherubs with eyes bigger than their faces and chubby little dimples denting cheeks and elbows.
Do you know what I thought when I looked at these pictures taken ages — but only a few years — ago?
I thought …
If only every new precious babe had the opportunity to spend life-forming, respect-building, heritage-instilling time with a grandparent! The world — and its children — would be so much kinder and happier.
Happy 7th birthday, son.
You are blessed to have so many wonderful influencers in your life. I hope you know how big their footsteps are, and I hope you try your best to fill those shoes for your own grandchildren some day.
