Date night shrimp on the barbie

Date night on the porch.

We kicked off a three-day weekend by putting the boy-child to bed and sending his sisters to the basement to watch a movie. I lit candles on the porch while the hubby preheated the grill. I chopped cilantro, zested a couple of limes  and for the first time in my life, opened a bottle of fish sauce. He grilled the shrimp.

And this is what we ate …

Grilled Shrimp with Lime & Cilantro

It was delicious. Fresh and flavorful with a little bit of pep from the limes. Just a bit of crunch from the chopped peanuts. And the grilled shrimp? Mmm. The recipe is from Martha Stewart. And we’ve decided it is, indeed, a very good thing!

Note: This is a very simple recipe. It does call for shrimp with shells on, but I bought cleaned, de-veined shrimp with tails on, only.

If you like shrimp, this is a recipe to try! If you don’t … well, find something else to tickle your taste buds. Just make sure to get out on the porch and enjoy a late-summer evening with someone you love … or at the very least, like. And if you happen to have rocking chairs on your porch … even better.

Happy Labor Day weekend, friends. Enjoy!
