Precious moments and Easter blessings
It was the best weekend. Sunshine warmed our hearts and added a rosy glow to cheeks and arms. We mowed, pulled weeds, prepped garden boxes and took a sunset horseback ride over the hills. We kicked off a soul-searching Easter weekend with a Good Friday viewing of The Passion of the Christ. The boys spent Saturday cutting wood. The girls ran errands and prepared food for Sunday dinner. We concluded our Saturday with corn dogs and milkshakes at the local dairy bar. And on Easter we dressed in Sunday best and arrived at the church in time for a 7:30 sunrise service and breakfast. We feasted on ham and lamb for lunch following a family egg hunt.
Hail, hail the gang’s not even all here. There are three missing from this group (one was napping!). And thanks to my sister there’s another on the way! This is a photo of my children, niece and nephews, yes — but it’s also a snapshot of blessings overflowing.
As I watched them walking up and down the hills in search of eggs, M&Ms, squirt guns and the like, I was overwhelmed by joy. It was a beautiful weekend — slow, relaxing and family-filled. It so warmed my heart that the feelings have carried over into another manic Monday. It, too, is filled with sunshine.
For God so loved the world … and I’m so very thankful.
