Carrying your love with me

memday15

The title of this post is a George Strait song. Do you know it? It popped into my head while I was choosing which photos to post. It was the most wonderful, family-oriented weekend we’ve had in ages, and I don’t want to let it go. I’d rather hang on and savor the memories. The lyrics to the song seemed appropriate:

Carrying your love with me.
It’s my strength for holdin’ on,
Every minute that I have to be gone.
I’ll have everything I ever need.
Carrying your love with me.

I’ve said before that this is the place I do my memory-keeping. So hear it is … our weekend in full-color. I hope your Memorial Day and all the days of your weekend were just as memorable and laughter-filled!

Memorial Day cookout at my brother’s place. All the kids piled into the ‘hillbilly limousine’.

And those who didn’t fit simply held on for dear life.

To the top of the hill for some shooting sports. Safety is always top of mind.

There’s always a bit of friendly competition …

… but we try to temper that a bit so the kids can practice, learn and earn their smiles.

Pull!

Bang.

First one. I earned my smile!

These sweet young things are beginning to eat us out of house and home …

… especially after a game of fatherly football. (And P.S., the fathers could barely move the next morning!)

And then there’s the new raft. It was quite a hit …

But of course they had to fuel up before the boating/fishing/festivities could begin.

Row, row, row your boat … I’m just full of musical inspiration today!

And just like that, our weekend sailed off into a blissful sunset.
