How Does My Garden Grow?

Clover growing at Tuckaway Farm

All the world’s a stage and the plants? It’s players — at least that’s how it seems in these parts. Over the last week blooms have burst into being, colors have possessed a more vibrant hue and yes, I’ll admit it: the weeds are thriving, too. I overlooked the goings on in the garden and flowerbeds last week. And while we were ‘fairing‘ well, the plants were, too. Come with me on a little walk around the homestead. You can’t hear the gurgle of the homemade fountain in the water trough, or the tunes of the mourning doves, red-winged blackbirds, mockingbirds, robins and bluebirds. You can’t feel the heavy humidity or the scorching sun, but you can see summer’s bounty. It brings to mind the hymn, For the Beauty of the Earth.

We’re surrounded by beauty in all sorts of ways … like barefoot boys, Popsicles and trusty guard dogs.

Sweet summertime … when the livin’ is [not necessarily] easy, but most definitely brimming with life and love and happy pursuits. Take a moment and explore the beauty all around — be it flowers or birds or the ornery gaze of a child. Take care, friend — fill your heart with the joy of simple things.
