Our Family Is Growing
“And turning His gaze toward His disciples, He began to say, ‘Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God. Blessed are you who hunger now, for you shall be satisfied.'” ~ Luke 6:20-21 KJV
They live in Honduras — one with parents and one without. One who draws lovely photos with crayons, one who suffers from epilepsy. One who attends school and learns to read and plays with her friends, and one who stays with foster parents and has a tutor. He can’t go to school because his head aches much of the time.
Their letters fill my heart with love and often, my eyes with tears. I want to help them, I want to help all of them — each and every face here … but I can’t. Together? Maybe. If we work together, we can help many, many more. October is ‘Release 3’ month at Compassion International. It’s a campaign — a challenge for Compassion sponsors, like my family, to encourage others to sponsor a child.
I have three packets in my hand — three children who desperately wait for a sponsor. With your $38 a month, a child will receive at least one healthy, filling meal per day. They will go to school and learn to read, write and most importantly, know God. They will know that someone out in the great big world loves them, even though we’ve never met.
But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God. ~ Luke 18:16 KJV
You won’t miss it. That $38 a month? It can be automatically withdrawn from your checking account. And you won’t miss it, I promise. It’s the greatest investment you can make with the most return. You may not see it, but trust me when I say you will feel it.
“Here’s the lesson: Use your worldly resources to benefit others and make friends. Then, when your earthly possessions are gone, they will welcome you to an eternal home.” ~ Luke 16:9 NLT
There are children waiting for safety and schooling and Jesus. Please, please consider sponsoring a child through Compassion. It means the world to these little ones and their families. And it means the world to you and me and everyone else, too.
